Well I suppose a lot has happened since June of last year and even prior too that. Around that time possibly, or even longer, I acquired the lovely Canon Vixia HF100 Camcorder for my video recording needs. After weeks of research, comments by actual users, footage previews, and now hands on testing myself, I have concluded that it is the best in its class. It is perfect for almost any size of project and especially for the Documentary I am currently working on – of my Granddads history.

As for my network, it has expanded to a total of 38Ghz, with more to be added in the near future. Per my plans, I should have a minimum of 5 or 6 dual cores and my main AMD Quad Core. On a side note my main network backbone and gaming systems are all running on gigabyte LAN.This is a must have for transferring large files. Below is a more recent video of these in action on a LAN Party I held.

After some research, this led me to understand that the sandisk m230 was the best option. I may get one myself and use it for podcasting. Who wants the extra clutter of a microphone laying around on your desk?

I run my own radio station and preview songs for it. This means I need to be overly picky about quality. I have listened to an ipod and yes ipod fans are going to hate me for this, but the sandisk player is way better. I was impressed with everything from recording, to mp3 playback, to the fm radio tuner, and the headphones. It also included a usb dongle, all for around $22 with free shipping from Gearxs.

Here are the recording stats for your future reference. (32kbps recording at 4:25 the total file size was 1.03mb). The out put was in .wav format but you can convert to mp3 using a free online conversion tool like I did. As you can see the 512mb version he got is good for 35 hours of recording "if" I did the math right. Aside from my own, not so great of voice, here is a live preview of a sample recording. Note that I did use Media Convert to switch over to mp3 format. However, I think the quality is still the same. Nothing more or less than the original.

Oh, and as a geek, I have to brag that this file is self hosted on my own personal network and web server at my location.

Up till now I have been impressed with the reliability of my ATT broadband service. The media is harping up the fact about Comcast capping users with 250 GB monthly limits. Now they are reporting this like others providers may follow suit.

If ATT does put a cap on usage I will strongly consider ditching my land line and DSL all together. I will also do all I can do encourage others to do the same as most are ditching land lines and going to cell phones already. If I have anything to say about it, they will loose a lot of business over it.

I do not care what anyone else says, but this country needs to progress and not digress on broadband services. Such decisions can only hurt long term technology development as history has proven.
